The Super Eagles of Nigeria came from behind to secure a ticket in the quarter-final stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. Odion Ighalo put in an impressive performance as he scored twice and created another to go top of the goalscoring chart of the competition. These are the ratings for Ighalo and the rest of the Super Eagles.
Daniel Akpeyi (GK) 6.0
Akpeyi had not impressed the Super Eagles’ fans in the first two games against Burundi and Guinea but he kept two clean sheets to help the Nigerians qualify for the knockout stages. The goalkeeper could not do much to prevent the first goal but he should have prevented Njie from beating him at the near post.
Chidozie Awaziem (DF) 7.5
The defender was put under a lot of pressure by the opposition attackers and he picked up a yellow card as he aimed to stop Bassagog from getting into a goalscoring position. He was impressive in attack and his cross into the box in the second half created the chance that got the equalizer for the Super Eagles.
William Troost-Ekong (DF) 5.0
Troost-Ekong had a quiet performance in center-back position and was not impressive as the Super Eagles conceded two quick-fire goals in the first half.
Kenneth Omeruo (DF) 8.0
The Chelsea center-back put in a dominant performance as he constantly helped the full-backs after they were beaten by the Cameroonian wingers. Omeruo assisted Ighalo’s goal but he should have done better in the first half and his inability to hold Bahoken in the box allowed the striker score from close range.
Ola Aina (DF) 6.0
Aina was impressive for the Super Eagles when he got forward in attacking positions. However, he was not in his best defensive form and could not contain the pacy and skillful wingers in the Cameroon team. He was left on the ground by Njie as the former Tottenham star scored the second goal for the Indomitable Lions .
Oghenekaro Etebo (MF) 7.0
The midfielder dictated the play of the game constantly setting the Nigerian attackers free after winning the ball from the opposition attackers. Etebo won fouls to distrupt the opposition plays and maintained possession for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Wilfred Ndidi (MF) 5.0
Wilfred Ndidi was quiet in the game and failed to impose himself as Nigerian fans expected. The Premier League midfielder started the game slowly and did not release the Nigerian attackers early enough in the first half.
Moses Simon (MF) 6.5
The pacy winger drilled in crosses and helped the Super Eagles create chances from set-pieces. However, he failed to make successful take-ons and made only one key pass before he was substituted in the second half.
Alex Iwobi (MF) 8.5
Alex Iwobi was the creative fulcrum in the middle of the park and created chances for the front three of the Super Eagles. The Arsenal star was the spark for the 2013 champions and the Cameroonians failed to keep him quiet. His incredible runs into the box threatened the defence and one of them paid off as he scored the winner from one of them.

Ahmed Musa (MF) 7.5
The Captain for the night was in impressive form as his experience helped the Super Eagles remain motivated even after falling behind. He could have done better with his final ball as most of his crosses failed to connect. He provided a great assist with incredible skill to set-up the equalizer for Odion Ighalo.

Odion Ighalo (FW) 10.0
The striker was in sharp form in attack and converted a half-chance in the first half to double his goal tally at the ongoing tournament. Ighalo was a constant threat to the Cameroon defence and his link up play helped the wingers and full backs get into dangerous attacking positions.
scored the equalizer with a fine volley before he set up the winner with a sublime pass. He is our man of the match for today’s game.
Samuel Chukwueze (MF) 8.0
Samu’s introduction proved to be a stroke of genius from Gernot Rohr as the Super Eagles came from behind to win the tie. The skillful winger was a thorn in the flesh of the defence and his attacking plays and dribbles helped Nigeria win the game.
